Tapered Bottles: There are limitations to all labelers in applying labels to tapered bottles. (you can test a label on a household funnel to understand the fundamental problem). Before choosing a bottle and label, we recommend visiting a wine shop and looking at many tapered bottles to get an idea of what is possible. Applying labels to tapered bottles is a balancing act between wrinkles and uneven application with respect to bottom of bottle. In short, the greater the taper, the narrower the labels need to be. In addition, paper labels work better than waterproof synthetics (synthetics wrinkle more).

Tapered Bottle—Wider at bottom
Oring for tapered bottle $3
Position an oring on the DRIVE roller. Move the oring up/down until the labels are applied straight.

Tapered Bottle---Wider at top
Custom Roller for tapered bottle $150
Send us your bottle and roll of labels. We machine a roller to match the bottle.
[Oring will not work with bottle that is wider at top.]

Clear labels on clear backing. The labeler works fine with virtually all labels. However, it will not work with clear labels on clear backing. It will work with clear labels on white (or any color) backing.

Horizontal vs Vertical Labeling
Wine bottles should be kept upright after corking for up to two hours to protect against leakage. It takes time for the cork to fully expand and seal. Vertical labelers can be used immediately after corking while horizontal labeling should be delayed up to two hours.
