Nutriflo vs Nutriflex Nutriflo and Nutriflex are spiral reinforced suction hose, made from the same materials, with smooth inner surface. Both are clear, either transparent blue or white. The outer surface of Nutriflo is smooth, while the outer surface of Nutriflex is corrugated. See photo. Nutriflex is more flexible—bends more easily—and is easier to drag across the floor. Nutriflo is easier to clamp, especially in high pressure applications. [Worm Clamps and Preformed Clamps may be used with small diameter Nutriflex (1" and 1.5") and in low pressure applications with 2" and 2.5" Nutriflex without inserts. For example, pumping must with an open end is not a problem.]

Goodyear Vintner and Brewers Hose For handling in-plant and/or tank truck transfer of wine, beer, potable water, and other nonoily, liquid foodstuffs. Vintners hose is a very high pressure hose and is not needed for most winery applications. Nutriflo or Nutriflex are better choice.

Clamps There are three choices for clamping hose with smooth exterior such as Nutriflo, Pliovic, and Vintners hose. 1. PREFORMED CLAMPS. These are for businesses that make up hoses frequently or require a secure, low profile, and professional banding. A special tool is required. The tool tightens the preformed clamp and then a mallet is used to center punch and lock the preformed clamp. It is best to use two clamps on every connection. The first clamp is applied furthest from the fitting. The second clamp is applied closer to the fitting. The clamp buckles should be at 180 degrees to each other. Preformed Clamps make excellent strong bands and are recommended for Vintners hose or potentially hazardous applications (high temperature, caustic, etc). They also have a lower and cleaner profile than High Torque Clamps. They must be cut off to be removed. Click here for Installation Instructions of Pre-Formed Clamps 2. HIGH TORQUE WORM CLAMPS--These are strong worm-gear clamps that can be reused and require no special tools. These are easily applied. They are similar to worm-gear clamps (aka screw clamps) but 8 screw-threads are engaged in the band simultaneously for incredible torquing drive (over 200 in lbs compared to 30 in-lbs for standard worm gear clamps such as radiator clamps), sealing pressure, and vibration resistance. Made entirely of stainless steel. Band is 5/8" wide and most of the band is not perforated in order to avoid cutting hose or tubing (as in standard worm-gear clamps). It is best to use two clamps on each connection. The first clamp is applied furthest from the fitting. The second clamp is applied closer to the fitting. The clamps buckles should be at 180° to each other. 3. OETIKER CLAMPS are very easy to apply and work very well with small diameter hose and tubing. They are used extensively for beverage lines in the soda and beer industry. A special crimping tool is required. 4. SPIRAL CLAMPS for Nutriflex hose. Nutriflex has a corrugated outer surface and the spiral clamp lays in the grooves. High Torque Worm Clamps and Preformed Clamps may be used with Nutriflex with small diameter or low pressure applications. Used with Nutriflex tubing only. Clamp is tightened with a wrench.
Hi Torque Clamps--apply with wrench or screwdriver. Stainless steel. High torque clamps have 8 screw threads that are simultaneously engaged for incredible torquing drive (over 200 in. lbs.) sealing pressure and vibration resistance. They withstand more than 4 times the SAE torque requirements for worm-driven clamps such as radioator clamps. 5/8" wide 302/304 half hard stainless steel band and 410 stainless steel screw.

Stainless Steel Universal Preformed Clamps You must have a Band Clamp Tool to apply these clamps. Preformed clamps can be reduced to any size less than the max ID. Installation of Pre-Formed Band Clamps

For Nutriflo and Nutriflex (or similar hose with helical support). Determine the direction the helical support is pointing. The tail of the clamp should point in the same direction as the helical support.
Clean Hose I.D. This is particularly important if the hose was cut with abrasive wheel or "chop saw" due to excessive amount of rubber dust that is left inside the hose.
Coupling Lubricant: Do NOT use soap, oil, grease, WD40, Silicone Spray or other substances that may attack the rubber material or reduce coupling retention. In other words, anything that makes it easier for the coupling to be inserted, will also make it easier for the coupling to come off. The exceptions are water and special coupling lubricants that evaporate after application. It is rare that anything other than water is required for the couplings and hose that we sell for the beer/wine industry.
Put clamp(s) on hose and insert coupling.
Use Band Clamp Tool as follows.
Insert clamp tail into slot in Band Clamp Tool until clamp buckle is against tool head.
Place T-handle on flat surface.
Raise lever with knob fully, then lower lever fully. [Never grasp the knob with a "closed fist". If the clamp tail breaks without warning, it may result in injury to the operator (pinched fingers). Always use an open palm when applying pressure to the lever.]
Repeat this until clamp is properly tensioned. Proper tension is achieved whent the outside diameter of the band clamp is even with or slightly below the diameter of the hose. This is a "rule of thumb" and can vary from one stem/hose combination to another.
When the clamp is properly tensioned, the lever with knob should be in the full down position. [In some instances it may not be possible to lower the lever to the full down position without risking prematurely breaking the clamp tail. When this situation arises, move the pulling dog lever on the tool to release the lever, then lower it to the full down position.]
Hit the tool punch with a soft head hammer or mallet several times. [Use a hammer or mallet with head made of malleable iron or brass. Using a hammer or mallet with a case hardened head such as a claw hammer or ball peen hammer will dramatically shorten the tool life , and if the head shatters, can inflict severe injury to the operator.]
Firmly hold the hose with one hand. Raise and lower the tool to break the clamp tail. This may be repeated several times until the tail breaks.
For assemblies with multiple clamps, the clamp buckles must be offset to prevent a leak path. 2 Clamps offset at 180°. 3 Clamps offset at 120°. When using two clamps, apply the clamp furthest away from the hose end first.
