- The unit has difficulty starting or overheats during use. Avoid long or
small gauge extension cords. These will cause equipment to run hot and perhaps
stall. Also, be sure you have good connections to outlets.
- Roller Spacing for Crushers. Due to varying stem and grapes sizes,
the rollers may need to be adjusted for different grapes. If the output of the
unit is less than manufactuers specifications, you may have the rollers too
close, preventing the fruit from entering the rollers easily.
- Unit may also run hot if your roller spacing is too close. Generally, set
the roller spacing at the widest gap that gives sufficient crushing.
- Rollers Mistimed. Out of time simply means the cogs on the rubber
rollers are not aligned with each other. This can occur when a large stem pushes
the rollers far apart during operation. [The spring loaded rollers can move
apart to protect the machine from damage.] The solution is too simply pull the
rollers apart and turn one of them to realign them. The visual sympton is the
rollers will be being moving back and forth from each other--it will be very
noticeable. If this problem is recurring, then you are operating with the rollers
too far apartsimply move them a little close together. It is a timing
problem because the gears which drive the rollers have different number of cogs
than the rubber rollers.
- Washing-Maintenance
Once the machine has been used and turned off and the plug disconnected, it
is ready to be washed internally and externally to remove any residue. The machine
should be washed after each working day. Once it has been deactivated, open
the crankcase and grease all chains and gears by applying grease to all greasing
points, if any. Important: Do not carry out any maintenance while the machine
is operating.
- Storage during off season. Coat any areas that may rust with grease or oil
(lithium grease, vegetable oil, etc)
- Lithium grease (spray can) is an excellent and easy to use lubricant.
Use Food Grade Silicone Spray on any areas that contact the fruit.
- Problem: The pump does not have enough pressure. Applies to units with built
in pump.
Solution: Regulate tension of transmission belts.
- Problem: There are grapes among the stalks ejected by the machine. [This
can be caused by poorly harvested fruittoo many leaves.]
Solution: Turn off the machine and clean the perforated basket.
Safety Notes:
The protection provided at the opening where stalks are ejected from the
machines, as well as the hopper over the feed auger, do not completely limit
access to the dangerous parts of the machine. They are however a good compromise
between the need for protection and the machineÕs functional requirements.
- Do not wear loose fitting clothing. Never reach into the hopper when
machine is running.
- To eliminate the excessive accumulation of stalks at the chute opening
use an object with a long handle (either a rake or a shovel). Never use hands
to clear stalks. Turn machine off before clearing the stalks.
Adjustable and Spring Loaded Rollers
These are two valuable features that are standard on all of our Enoitalia crushers.
The gap between roller axles (4a and 4b) is changed by turning nut (1). In addition,
the bolt/nut (3) is in a slot such that when a stone enters between the rollers,
roller 4a can move to the left against the tension of the spring (2). By the
way, nut 3 should not be tightened down (It is a nylon self-locking nut
so it will not come loose.) The exact same assembly is on the other side of the
machine.
Please note that some machines such as the Jolly 20/30 have spring loaded roller
block on one side only. The roller spacing is adjustable on the other side by
moving the roller blocks in slots.
Never tighten Nut 3. If must be loose for the rollers to separate to
pass a large stem or stone. This is a protective feature.
Move the rollers farther apart by turning Nut 1 clockwise. Turn counterclockwise
to move rollers closer together. There is another nut next to the spring 2 that
is not numbered in the photo. If you wish to make a large adjustment in roller
spacing you may need to adjust this as well. For example, if you move the rollers
far apart by turning Nut 1 clockwise significantly, then you will need to turn
this nut to relieve some of the tension on the spring.
The total adjustment range is about 2 cm.
