Labeler Manuals

You can easily distinguish between newer model Etc220 and older model by the 3 rollers that hold the bottle. There is one moveable roller (and 2 fixed) on older models. Newer models have 2 moveable rollers and 1 fixed.

Maintenance notes. Remove side covers annually and lubricate the chain and cam/moving-roller mechanism. Clean bottle stand routinely.

  • GFI: You cannot use Labeler on a circuit with GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter). Labeler has a frequency drive which will trip the GFI.

Adjusting Photocell of labeler.

Older units have Omron E3S-GS3B4, yellow color.

Photocell adjustment is SPECIFIC to label. We set up each labeler with our labels and test them before shipping. It is best if you send a roll of labels prior to shipping and we will set the labeler up and adjust the photocell for your label.

The technique that will always work is the following:
· Put labels on machine
· Turn photocell adjustment screw to ~ 3 o'clock position.
· Turn the labeller on
· Turn the photocell adjustment screw counterclockwise until the machine stops when a label is passed in front of it.

[There is no perfect rule for adjusting the photocell based on the photocell red/green lights. This is due to a number of factors including reflection, opacity of the labels and label paper, color/design of the label. The reason that the red/green lights may not be a reliable indicator is that turning on or off of the red/green lights takes longer than the operational time of the photocell (2 msec). In other words, the photocell will switch faster than the lights can turn on.]

Newer units have FC7 by MD Microdetectors. black color.

Open the electric box and use the display of the Siemens PLC. There are older and newer versions of this and the displays are a bit different. Setup is the same.

1. Older Siemens PLC, prior to ~2019
The PLC display shows a date (it could flashing or not, does not matter.)

Press the arrow on right and the display now shows the input signal

The input from the photosensor is the number 4.

When the label paper (without label) is in front of photosensor, the number 4 has to be black.

When the label is in front of the photosensor, l the number 4 has to be white.

You must use the + and - buttons on photosensor to make the adjustment.

When set, just push the left arrow key, back to date screen.

2. Newer Siemens PLC, 2019 and later.

The PLC display shows a date (it could flashing or not, does not matter.)

Oring for label paper collection $12
~6" diameter oring that drives the final spool (from the entrainment roller.) This oring is not critical---you will simply have a pile of paper on the floor without it.

Rubber Sleeve for 2-1/8" rollers $55 each
for 2-1/8" diameter roller. (All machines prior to May, 2010.) Use compressed air to remove/replace sleeve. Blow air between roller and sleeve. 60 mm.

Rubber Sleeve for 1-9/16 " rollers $40 each
for 1-9/16" diameter roller. (Beginning May, 2010—labelers may have both size rollers) Use compressed air to remove/replace sleeve. Blow air between roller and sleeve. 40 mm

Bearing HK1816

This is the bearing that is press fit into white rollers that turn freely on a central shaft (all the rollers with a bolt on top). There are 2 (top and bottom) on each roller.

Bearing SB203 $12
This bearing is mounted (in a flange) in both the top and bottom metal plate of the labeler. Each has 2 set screws.
