MEP—Corker and Stelvin Capper Manuals and Parts

MEP is a family business founded in 2002.
All MEP machines are designed, engineered, constructed, and tested entirely in-house. This is what separates MEP.

St. Patrick's is has been the EXCLUSIVE importer and authorized distributor of MEP in North America since 2003, over 21 years.

MEP corkers that appear elsewhere in North America came through an Italian distributor. Service and parts must be provided through the Italian distributor. This is extremely important because a corking machine is the most precisely operating machine in a small winery. In addition to the parts and instructions on this page, we have more parts and detailed instructions that require feedback from us prior to undertaking the repair.

If you have a MEP corker that was not originally sold by St. Pat's, we will provide parts and service under the following conditions.
1. Send a photo of nameplate of the corker. The corker must have been manufactured 2020 or earlier. This offer does not extend to units made 2021-2023.
2. Pay a onetime $500 service fee.
We will then provide parts, manuals and our expert advice for all future needs of the corker.
Send us an email at stpats@stpats.com if you are interested. Include as much info about the history of the corker as possible.

Filter for Vacuum pump $18 sold out
Clear cover. This filter is inline between vacuum pump and blue tank of P35.

Red or white Filter for Vacuum Pump $90
Oil usage is usually high during breakin period of pump. In particular, oil will leak out of the red filter on top of the pump. This should go away in a month or so. There is a micovalve in bottom of red filter that allows the oil to drain back. If it doesn't, then the Black Rubber Cap (see below) can be put over the top and the oil will then slowly drain back into the pump.

Black Rubber Cap for red filter $30
this is used only if pump continues to leak oil out of red filter after breakin period. now includes drain tubing

General Info---all corkers

Damaged Cork Pusher and Top Plate is indirectly caused by Bottle Height misadjustment. If bottle is too low, cork will not be driven fully into bottle. This misleads user into lowering the cork pushing pin (which ironically makes the problem worse). If cork pushing pin is too low, it can hit the cork pusher and bend the post on the top plate. It is extremely important to check the Bottle Height when changing bottles (red to white for example).

Corker Jaw Replacement

Avt400 Stelvin Capper

  • Stelvin Avt400-S. This provides concise instructions for setting up the Stelvin Capper.
  • Avt400 and electrical. This is the general manual for Avt400 for oil (ROPP capsules) but also applies to the Stelvin capper with one very important exception. Do not adjust the Drive Spring on the Stelvin Capper. The Drive Spring has been preset for Stelvin caps. For either oil or Stelvin, the best approach is to send us your bottle and capsules and we will set it up here before shipping.
  • Videos: The following videos help in understanding the setup of Avt400.
    • First shows changing bell which will not be needed unless you use this for Stelvin and olive oil.
    • Second shows cutting off top of capsule and beginning of height adjustment of rollers.
    • Third shows height adjustment of lower roller (for tamper-proof seal)
    • Fourth shows height adjustment of other lower roller.
    • Fifth shows height adjustment of upper rollers.
    • Sixth shows centering bottle
    • Seventh shows a capsule being applied.
  • GFI: You cannot use Stelvin Capper on a circuit with GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter). Capper has a frequency drive which will trip the GFI.

Bell for 31.5 mm capsules $85

Clear Safety Shield Stelvin Capper $110

Changing head on Avt400. This is only needed if you have two heads for different capsule diameters.
Lower head to lowest position (weight of head and motor now helps in unthreading the head). Loosen large hex nut on top. Unthread and remove the top shaft (black know on top). Remove cover directly abover the head (2 bolts, usually a yellow sticker on this cover).Use large channel locks to grab the spindle under this cover. Now use Pin spanner wrench to unscrew the head.
