3-Phase Power using a
Phase Converter
Phaseconverter.com

To supply 3-phase power from a single phase service. If you do not have 3-phase
power, you will need a rotary phaseconverter. I purchased a good quality
one capable of handling all equipment that we sell for ~$625. Basically, you
need 40 Amp 220V single phase service---the phase converter changes this to 3
phase. We cannot emphasize the long term value of 3-phase power for even small
wineries. Single phase power limits the choices in equipment and many items will
run smoother and quieter with 3-phase motors. 3-phase motors draw less current
than comparable powered 1-phase.
GFI and Frquency Drives (aka Inverters). GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter, aka GFCI) may be a problem with equipment with frequency drives. Frequency Drives, by design, send current to ground which is what triggers a GFI. Equipment with Frequency Drives include Electric Corkers, Monoblock, and pumps with Frequency Drives.
